This position is central to providing essential transportation and logistics expertise, acting as a solutions specialist for operational challenges. The Logistics Coordinator will play a critical role in offering robust operational support and making strategic decisions to enhance customer satisfaction, improve overall efficiency, and successfully achieve business objectives for petroleum product delivery.

The TL;DR

• Team: Reports to Operations Manager; works closely with fleet drivers, internal and external customers, and suppliers.
• Mission: To oversee and optimize the day-to-day operations of scheduling, delivering, and dispatching petroleum products.
• Tech Stack: QMS system, DTN, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel), Internet, transportation-related software.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Logistics Operations: Oversee the comprehensive day-to-day scheduling, delivery, and dispatching of petroleum products, meticulously managing their movement between various petroleum loading terminals and customer facilities.
• Carrier Coordination: Strategically hire and coordinate third-party carriers when internal resources are insufficient or pre-arranged, ensuring acceptable common carrier load rates and seamless logistical operations.
• Market & Customer Insights: Accurately maintain and distribute daily pricing to customers using the QMS system, manage inventories for specified customers, and actively monitor markets to plan and execute daily purchasing and product movement.
• Driver Management & Compliance: Direct drivers on product purchasing locations, ensure they have access to all necessary customer and terminal information, resources, and tools, and monitor workload and hours of service to maintain DOT compliance.
• Relationship Building & Safety: Establish trust and confidence with drivers, internal (bulk plant facilities) and external customers, and terminal employees through ongoing communication and timely follow-up, while actively communicating and documenting issues regarding employees, fleet, and product safety.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High School diploma or equivalent required. Fundamental ability to read, write, and understand English, coupled with basic mathematical calculation skills and knowledge of U.S. geography.
• Experience: Preference for two to three years of experience in the transportation industry and its terminology. Additionally, one to two years of excellent relationship management and negotiation skills are preferred, alongside an understanding of customer needs and market requirements.
• Skills: Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with both internal and external customers. Proficiency in reading maps, schedules, and road signs, as well as maintaining detailed reports. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel) and internet usage, are also preferred.
• Bonus: A college degree from an accredited university or college; a current Driver’s License; and experience with transportation-related software.
