The Tone:
This is a Direct Placement role for an Accounting Manager, located in Inver Grove Heights, MN, with hybrid onsite flexibility (3 days in office, Tuesday/Wednesday core days). CHS, the client company, operates within the energy sector, specifically managing refined fuels wholesale product lines. This role is crucial for executing accounting responsibilities for the refined fuels wholesale product line, leading a team of accountants, and playing a key role in monthly/yearly close processes and financial reporting for the Energy accounting team.

• Mission: Owns the execution of accounting responsibilities for the refined fuels wholesale product line, leading a team, and managing crucial monthly and yearly financial close processes, including SEC reporting compliance.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage a team of cost accountants, providing mentoring, leadership, and performance assessment to attract, develop, and retain talent.
• Lead the month-end and year-end close processes for Energy according to the company accounting calendar, preparing monthly close activities for assigned areas.
• Direct the development and preparation of financial reports and analysis to support accurate internal and external SEC reporting and footnote requirements.
• Ensure accounting policies and procedures comply with company guidelines and US GAAP, monitoring evolving accounting guidance and maintaining a strong internal controls environment.
• Prepare precise year-end audit work papers, serve as a business partner to leaders, and facilitate continuous process improvement around processes and system enhancements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Economics, Business, Business Administration, or a related field; Managerial level.
• Experience: 4+ years of experience in Finance and/or Accounting, with prior leadership experience demonstrating progressively advancing responsibilities.
• Skills: Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), strong organizational skills, analytical ability, and proficiency in MS Office suite.
• Bonus: Previous experience with JDE and SAP accounting software.
