This is an internship at PlusAI, located in Santa Clara, CA. PlusAI is a Physical AI company that builds AI-based virtual driver software for factory-built autonomous trucks. This role directly contributes to the development of cutting-edge perception technologies, helping accelerate the deployment of next-generation autonomous trucks. Your work will have a real-world impact on the future of autonomous vehicles.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person, Santa Clara, CA
• Pay: $19–$65 hourly
• Mission: To develop advanced perception technologies for detecting unknown objects and integrating them into autonomous truck systems.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Develop technologies to detect unknown or foreign objects using multi-modal sensor streams.
• Develop and benchmark cutting-edge techniques in deep learning.
• Optimize and seamlessly integrate developed techniques into the production perception/AV stack.
• Train and fine-tune multimodal deep learning models within a state-of-the-art simulation pipeline.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a similar technical field of study.
• Experience: Practical experience with software design and development, and a foundational knowledge of Machine Learning or Deep Learning principles.
• Skills: Python, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, 3D computer vision.
• Bonus: Past experience in deep learning projects involving object detection, motion tracking, or semantic segmentation; a publication record in relevant academic venues (CVPR, ICLR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, AAAI, SIGGRAPH).
