The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Type: Full-time
• Location: In-person, at one of its facilities

• Team: Reports to the Transportation Supervisor or Manager; supervises Transportation Officers and operations in their absence.
• Mission: Ensure the safe and efficient transportation of detainees and the readiness of vehicles and personnel for The GEO Group’s correctional and community reentry services.
• Tech Stack: Mission Trackers, computers, department-specific software

What You’ll Actually Do
Staff Management & Training: Assist the Transportation Supervisor or Manager in training Transportation Officers on policies and procedures, schedule their work assignments, and ensure their semi-annual weapons qualifications are current.
Operational Oversight: Monitor Transportation Officers during detainee transport to ensure care and custody is maintained, report any problems for resolution, and issue orders for vehicle departures according to schedules.
Vehicle Fleet Management: Ensure maintenance services, schedules, and repairs for all assigned vehicles, addressing identified defects, and reviewing work for compliance with company standards.
Incident Investigation: Respond to, investigate, and prepare detailed reports on any accidents involving assigned Transportation Officers.
Compliance & Documentation: Maintain Department of Transportation (DOT) files, ensure all Mission Trackers are complete and accurate for monthly billings, and stay knowledgeable on transportation regulations.

The Must-Haves
Background: Certificate in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military; combined with one year of transportation experience in a supervisory capacity. Requires a valid proper class motor vehicle operator’s license, a State Firearms License, and a State Security Guard License.
Experience: One year of dedicated transportation experience; demonstrated knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements for Hours of Service and Vehicle inspections.
Skills: Effective personnel interaction, communication, problem-solving, and sound leadership skills; ability to effectively train staff; proficiency in writing reports, memorandums, policies, and procedures.
Bonus: Ability to coordinate the complex demands of transportation operations; demonstrated initiative in creating networks with transportation authorities to stay informed on activities.
