Senior Data Governance Analyst | Milliman

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Milliman, located remotely. Milliman, independent for over 77 years, delivers market-leading services and solutions globally, helping clients address critical and complex issues such as retirement funding, healthcare financing, risk management, and business transformation. As part of a major enterprise transformation, this role is essential for ensuring the integrity, quality, and seamless migration of data across new HRIS, Finance, Legal, and Professional Services Automation platforms. This position plays a critical, hands-on role in enabling a smooth transition to modernized enterprise systems.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Liaise: Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, the Data Governance Council, data domain owners, and technical teams to elicit and prioritize data governance requirements.
• Profile & Map: Profile data and analyze source systems and data structures to support accurate mapping and migration of master data and data hub models.
• Document: Develop comprehensive data mapping documents, including source-to-target specifications and transformation logic, ensuring consistency with approved definitions and policies.
• Catalog: Create and maintain data catalogs, metadata, and lineage documentation to ensure consistent documentation, easy discovery, and effective management of enterprise data assets.
• Support ETL: Support the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data, including profiling, cleansing, validating migrated data, and performing quality assessments to ensure completeness and accuracy.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related fields, with a senior level of experience in data governance, data analysis, or data management.
• Experience: 7-9 years of experience, preferably supporting large-scale system implementations or migrations, with strong experience in data analysis, data profiling, data mapping, and ETL processes. Demonstrated experience working with Data Governance Councils or similar bodies to define and implement data governance requirements, and translating business requirements into actionable data management solutions.
• Skills: Proficiency with SQL and Python, experience working with relational databases, excellent analytical skills to interpret and translate business requirements into technical specifications, strong attention to detail, and effective verbal and written communication.
• Bonus: Experience with HRIS, Finance, Legal, or Professional Services Automation systems, participating in or leading Enterprise Data Governance Council initiatives, familiarity with MDM, data cataloging, and data quality best practices, and experience with data governance platforms such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Informatica, or Alation.
