Records Management & Data Entry Technician | Bernalillo County

This is a full-time, in-person role at Bernalillo County, located in Albuquerque, NM, within the Sheriff’s Office. • Mission: Ensure accurate and timely processing, entry, and cancellation of warrants and police reports to support law enforcement operations and public safety.
• Tech Stack: National Crime Information Center (NCIC), Warrant Information Tracking System (WITS), multi-line telephone system, computer systems and databases, radio.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Warrant Processing & Cancellation: Process, code, and accurately enter both misdemeanor and felony warrants into various computer systems and databases, ensuring proper cancellation and notification to appropriate agencies upon authorization.
• Information Dissemination & Research: Research and provide critical warrant and report information to civilian, law enforcement, and other community-based agencies, while also receiving, delivering, and picking up warrants from courts.
• Data Entry & Record Management: Review, approve, and enter comprehensive data related to active police reports, court subpoenas, and civil orders, maintaining department files and reviewing for historical recordkeeping.
• Public & Agency Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact by receiving and directing phone calls from the general public, bail bond companies, courts, and law enforcement, responding to requests for verification of warrants and domestic violence orders via phone or radio.
• NCIC Operations & Coordination: Receive, accurately enter, and send all National Crime Information Center (NCIC) teletypes concerning warrants, reports, missing persons, and compromised property, ensuring compliance with established procedures.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. High school diploma or GED required, complemented by a strong knowledge of procedures utilized in a Warrants Section.
• Experience: One (1) year of general clerical experience, with a distinct preference for prior experience within a law enforcement environment or a related field.
• Skills: Must be able to certify in NCIC within 6 months of employment; demonstrated proficiency in radio communications/transmission and the Warrant Information Tracking System (WITS); proven ability to perform moderately complex comparisons of identities; strong data entry and record maintenance capabilities; and excellent oral and written communication skills in English for clear interaction with diverse stakeholders.
• Bonus: Willingness to organize, maintain, and diligently review data, historical records, and police reports.
