Software Engineer, Internship | Palantir Technologies

The Tone:
This is an internship at Palantir Technologies, primarily encouraging in-office work with hybrid options available. Palantir builds leading software for data-driven decisions and operations, empowering partners to make critical advancements like developing lifesaving drugs and locating missing children. In this role, you will contribute high-quality code to core Palantir products, which are deployed at important institutions across public and private sectors globally. Your work will create features used by a diverse range of professionals, from research scientists to intelligence analysts, helping to solve complex, real-world problems.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: Hybrid
• Pay: $10500 monthly
• Team: Small teams of Software Engineers within the Product Development organization, each focusing on a specific aspect of a product.
• Mission: To understand our customers’ complex problems across various sectors and build scalable software products that effectively solve them.
• Tech Stack: Java, Go, Typescript, Cassandra, Spark, Elasticsearch, React, Redux, Gradle, GitHub

What You’ll Actually Do
• Design and Develop: Be involved throughout the product lifecycle, from initial idea generation and design to prototyping, execution, and final shipping of software.
• Code Contribution: Directly contribute high-quality code to foundational Palantir products such as Gotham, Foundry, or Apollo, which are deployed at significant institutions worldwide.
• User Collaboration: Collaborate closely with both technical and non-technical counterparts, including Product Managers and Designers, to thoroughly understand customer problems and build effective product solutions.
• User Engagement: Gain direct insight into user missions and difficulties, potentially through opportunities like touring manufacturing assembly lines or observing counter-terror analysts at their desks.
• Mentored Growth: Be paired with a dedicated mentor who is committed to supporting your professional growth and ensuring your success within your team and the organization.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Current student planning to graduate in 2028, pursuing an engineering background in fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or Physics. This must be your final internship before graduation.
• Experience: Familiarity with data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, front-end frameworks, and other relevant technical tools. Demonstrated experience coding in programming languages like Java, C++, Python, or JavaScript.
• Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a variety of individuals, including engineers, users, and non-technical team members. Willingness to learn quickly, make independent decisions when appropriate, and ask questions when needed. The capacity to write clean, effective code and rapidly adapt to new programming languages.
• Bonus: Active US Security clearance, or eligibility and willingness to obtain one.
