Docketing Technician (Office Automation) | United States Attorneys’ Offices
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at United States Attorneys’ Offices, located in Cleveland/Akron and Toledo, OH. This organization serves as the principal litigator for the U.S. government, handling a wide range of legal matters within its jurisdiction. This position is crucial for maintaining accurate and efficient legal case tracking and record-keeping systems, directly supporting the legal proceedings and administrative functions of the office. What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Management: Maintain and extract essential information from automated docketing databases and systems, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
• Record Updates: Input new information into databases and systems and update existing records to reflect current case statuses and details.
• Reporting: Extract requested program and statistical data for various reports and analyses, contributing to administrative oversight.
• Document Processing: Receive, review, and process incoming case files and documents, ensuring proper categorization and routing within the legal system.
• Material Production: Produce a variety of written documents, tables, graphs, and charts using a wide range of office automation applications for legal documents and courtroom presentations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry to mid-career professional with a foundation in administrative support, potentially within a legal context, or significant post-secondary education.
• Experience:
• GS-05: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level performing clerical/administrative duties in an office, including reviewing documents for accuracy, managing mail, responding to inquiries, typing, maintaining files, and performing data entry in an electronic system; OR four years of education above high school; OR a combination of both.
• GS-06: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level, utilizing electronic case management systems and office automation programs for docketing and record-keeping, determining appropriate legal action for cases, inputting/updating/extracting legal data, researching legal sources, and producing legal reports and documents.
• GS-07: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level, demonstrating knowledge of administrative and legal hearings rules, comprehensive legal terminology, performing complex data entry into case tracking systems, identifying errors, recommending procedural improvements, assisting with training new employees, and producing database reports.
• Skills: Typing at least 40 words per minute (with 3 or fewer errors), proficiency in data entry, strong organizational skills for record-keeping, and adept use of office automation applications.
