Press & VIP Intern | Paul Smith

The Tone:
This is an internship at Paul Smith, located in New York, NY. Paul Smith is one of Britain’s leading independent design companies, distinguished by a spirit of curiosity, playfulness, and adaptability, embodying the ‘classic with a twist’ philosophy. This crucial role supports the Press & VIP Associate and Manager, enabling the effective execution of media outreach, celebrity relations, and brand initiatives. The intern will gain hands-on experience with daily press and VIP activities of an in-house fashion brand, learning the inner workings of media outreach, celebrity relationships, and more within the fashion industry.

• Mission: To provide essential support for all press and VIP related activities, ensuring smooth daily operations and fostering effective media outreach and celebrity relationships for Paul Smith.
• Tech Stack: Fashion GPS

What You’ll Actually Do
• Sample Management: Manage all sample requests for US titles utilizing Fashion GPS, including precise send-outs and deliveries, and ensure the showroom is efficiently managed and merchandised.
• Logistics & Showroom Operations: Coordinate and facilitate messenger and delivery services, organize the Press Office and showroom for proper presentation, and handle tailoring and dry cleaning tasks for appropriate sample care.
• Stylist & Media Relations: Communicate effectively with stylists and assistants, assist with style selections, manage store pulls, recording, and returns, and liaise with the LA Studio Services team for studio fittings and communications.
• Reporting & Research: Compile daily press and social tracking, draft market outreach, research cultural and industry trends aligning with the brand’s strategy, and collate various in-house reports, including daily, weekly, monthly, VIP, trends, events, and comparative analyses.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Applicants must be actively enrolled in an accredited university program and eligible for school credit.
• Experience: No specific years of prior professional experience are required; however, a high level of interest in the Paul Smith brand and a passion for the luxury fashion industry are essential.
• Skills: Extremely detail-oriented with an organized manner of working, ability to communicate clearly and articulately in professional correspondence, capacity to take initiative and perform tasks self-sufficiently, and strong planning and organizational skills.
• Bonus: Possessing a genuine enthusiasm to learn and grow, demonstrating excellent teamwork, being self-motivated and enthusiastic, and serving as an effective ambassador for Paul Smith.
