Docketing Technician (Office Automation) | United States Attorneys’​ Offices

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at United States Attorneys’ Offices, located in Cleveland/Akron and Toledo, Ohio. The United States Attorneys’ Offices represent the federal government in virtually all litigation involving the United States in their districts. This role is critical for ensuring accurate and efficient management of legal cases by performing docketing and developing complex legal reports for the Northern District of Ohio. This position contributes directly to the operational efficiency and integrity of federal legal proceedings.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Management: Maintain and extract information from automated docketing databases and systems.
• Record Updates: Input and update records, reflecting status changes, and close cases as directed within databases and systems.
• Reporting: Produce a variety of written documents, tables, graphs, and charts utilizing a wide range of office automation applications.
• Document Handling: Receive and review incoming case files and documents, along with recurring reports.
• Data Extraction: Extract requested program and statistical data when required.

The Must-Haves
• Background: At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in Federal service, OR four years of education above the high school level, OR a combination of both specialized experience and education.
• Experience: Performing clerical/administrative duties in support of an office operation, including reviewing documents with basic legal implications for accuracy, handling incoming mail and inquiries, typing correspondence and forms, maintaining filing systems, and performing data entry in electronic automated database systems. Higher grade levels (GS-6, GS-7) require equivalent specialized experience in utilizing electronic case management systems, legal data handling, legal research, and producing legal reports, with increasing complexity in a legal environment.
• Skills: Proficiency in maintaining and extracting data from automated docketing databases, producing various documents using office automation applications, and typing at least 40 words per minute with three or fewer errors.
