Legal Assistant – International Trade | MMM LEGAL GROUP

The Tone:
This is a full-time Legal Assistant role at MMM LEGAL GROUP, located in Washington, D.C. MMM LEGAL GROUP provides comprehensive legal services, operating under a ‘Client First’ philosophy to deliver exceptional service. This role is crucial for supporting attorneys and professional staff within the International Trade group, ensuring efficient operations and outstanding client interactions.

• Pay: $80000–$90000 yearly
• Team: Part of the International Trade group, providing backup and support to a senior Legal Assistant.
• Mission: Provide administrative support to attorneys and other professionals, ensuring exceptional services to clients.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office programs, Kofax/Nuance, InTapp, LMS+, Adherent, iManage

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Interaction: Exhibit outstanding client service by responding to work requests, scheduling meetings, and conducting telephone conferences with clients.
• Attorney Support: Provide proactive administrative assistance for Trade attorneys and professional staff, displaying strong attention to detail.
• Document Production: Prepare and review letters and memoranda according to Firm standards using word processing and document management systems.
• Financial Management: Process requests for payment and reimbursements, and assist in the monthly billing of clients for the group.
• Information Oversight: Create, maintain, and retire files in accordance with Taft’s Information Governance Policy, and manage client contacts, emails, and print documents.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Legal Assistant with core domain knowledge in legal process, general court operations, and international trade matters.
• Experience: 2 1/2+ years of legal assistance experience in a law firm setting, proficient with Microsoft Office programs and specialized legal software including Kofax/Nuance, InTapp, LMS+, Adherent, and iManage.
• Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, ability to maintain strict confidentiality, and the capacity to effectively prioritize work with a sense of urgency.
• Bonus: Education beyond high school or coursework related to the legal industry, and proficiency in a foreign language.
