Corporate Vice President – Compliance Officer | New York Life Insurance Company
The Tone:
This is a significant officer-level, hybrid opportunity within New York Life’s Compliance department, which serves as a strategic second-line-of-defense partner. This role is crucial for supporting the Enterprise AML Compliance Officer, contributing to the development and execution of a modern, risk-based AML program, and ensuring compliance across a diverse portfolio of financial businesses.

• Team: AML leadership team, reporting to the Enterprise AML Compliance Officer
• Mission: To support the Enterprise AML Compliance Officer across program strategy, policy, sanctions compliance, transaction monitoring, training, and regulatory readiness, while taking meaningful ownership of key program components.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Support: Provide close operational and substantive support to the Enterprise AML Compliance Officer for day-to-day program execution, strategic initiatives, and team coordination.
• Case Escalation: Serve as the first-level escalation point for complex, sensitive, or novel AML cases, applying sound judgment and documenting decisions clearly and defensibly.
• Sanctions & Monitoring Oversight: Oversee enterprise sanctions compliance, including OFAC screening and investigations, and support the transaction monitoring and alert program, evaluating proposed enhancements.
• Training Program Ownership: Own the design, development, and delivery of the enterprise AML training program, including foundational and advanced typology-based training.
• Regulatory Readiness: Lead preparation for and execution of the annual independent assessment, maintaining program readiness for regulatory inquiries and internal audit requests.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree; 8+ years of progressive AML, BSA, OFAC, sanctions, or financial crimes compliance experience within banking, insurance, broker-dealer, investment adviser, or diversified financial services organizations.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience reviewing and making defensible decisions on complex or escalated AML cases; experience performing enterprise AML/BSA risk assessments and translating findings into control enhancements; experience developing and delivering compliance training.
• Skills: Strong working knowledge of BSA/AML regulatory requirements, including FinCEN rules, OFAC regulations, USA PATRIOT Act, and SAR filing obligations; ability to manage competing priorities independently, work across functions, and operate with sound judgment; strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to senior management and external assessors.
• Bonus: Prior supervisory or people management experience; CAMS certification or equivalent credential; experience supporting life insurance, annuities, broker-dealer, investment adviser, mutual fund, or wealth management businesses; familiarity with VAFA programs, elder financial exploitation frameworks, transaction monitoring systems, or AML technology implementations; advanced degree.
