Legal Intern (Year-Round) | General Atomics

The Tone:
This is a part-time, year-round internship at General Atomics, located in La Jolla/Torrey Pines (San Diego, CA). General Atomics and its affiliated companies lead the world in high-technology systems development, covering areas from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless, and laser technologies. This specific role offers an undergraduate intern the opportunity to work within the Legal Department, providing crucial administrative and practical support. What You’ll Actually Do
• Assist: Actively participate in supervised practical training sessions led by legal assistants, contributing directly to the daily operations and support functions of the Legal Department.
• Administer: Execute a range of essential administrative tasks, including precise filing, efficient copying, printing, scanning, accurate meeting note-taking, and meticulous preparation of binders.
• Manage: Systematically organize and maintain comprehensive corporate files, which encompasses indexing documents, managing a central repository, upholding logging systems, and coordinating the secure transport of documents between legal and various business departments.
• Research: Conduct thorough legal research as required, gathering critical information and insights to support ongoing cases, projects, and the overall needs of the department.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at a recognized college or university.
• Experience: No specific prior professional experience is required for this undergraduate internship; candidates should demonstrate the ability to quickly understand new concepts and apply them accurately in a practical setting.
• Skills: Possess excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills necessary for effective interaction with all levels of employees, as well as internal and external contacts. Must have advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite and other computer-based applications. Exhibit the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information and exercise sound judgment. Demonstrate the capability to follow both general and detailed instructions, adhering to organizational policies and procedures, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Bonus: An undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.6 or above is strongly preferred.
