Senior Manager, Business Resilience Risk, CIB and TPP, AME | HSBC
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at HSBC, located in Hong Kong and the Asia Middle East region. HSBC’s Global Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function supports the integration of the Group Framework and Appetite Management, with broad oversight of the Risk Taxonomy. This role is essential for navigating the increasingly complex and interconnected risk landscape, contributing to a holistic view of significant risks impacting the Group’s most important objectives by supporting the risk oversight of Corporate and Institutional Banking.

• Team: Global Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), a sub-function of Group Risk and Compliance, supporting Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB). Reports to the Regional Head of Business Resilience, CIB and TPP.
• Mission: To develop a holistic, portfolio view of the most significant risks to the achievement of the Group’s most important objectives, with primary responsibility for effective management of Non-Financial Risk associated activities within the CIB business in Hong Kong and the AME region.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Risk Management & Engagement: Direct and support Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) on business resilience risk management, including Third Party Risk, Data Risk, and Business Interruption and Incident Risk, acting as a key contact for stakeholder engagement in Hong Kong and the AME region.
• Independent Review & Guidance: Facilitate business growth by providing independent review and challenge, highlighting material risk considerations, and offering 2nd line risk stewardship and guidance on CIB business activities.
• Oversight & Identification: Oversee emerging risks, strategic business initiatives, local change activities, and new products to ensure that potential risks are identified and managed effectively.
• Framework Embedding & Specialism: Drive and liaise with the Business in Hong Kong and the AME region to ensure risk management frameworks are embedded effectively, and act as the risk specialist for Transaction and Payment Processing Risk for the region, providing a consolidated 2nd line view.
• Thematic Reviews & Support: Conduct thematic reviews across the Business to ensure that the risk and control environment is commensurate with the scale and nature of operations, and support the Regional Head on the risk oversight and stewardship of the CIB business.
The Must-Haves
• Background: University degree holder with proven experience in a relevant senior role within Operational Risk, Business Risk and Control, Technology/Data Risk, or similar, preferably from a financial services organisation background.
• Experience: Strong level of Markets and Securities Services business knowledge and a proven track record of leading teams, ideally across geographies and matrixes.
• Skills: Strong understanding of risk management by incorporating risk considerations in business activities, business-orientated with honed analytical skills emphasizing complex analyses of data and management information, and the ability to articulate and present complex concepts persuasively to Senior Management and Stakeholders.
• Bonus: Knowledge and experience of any sub-business lines including Banking, Payments, Markets and Securities Services, or advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, MSc, PhD) in a relevant discipline.
