Investment Banking Analyst | James Search Group
The Tone:
This is a full-time Investment Banking Analyst role, working with a boutique investment bank client of James Search Group, located remotely in New York, NY. The client is a well-established firm specializing in capital raising and strategic advisory for lower to middle market companies, typically ranging from $10M–$150M in enterprise value. This role is crucial for supporting founder-led and closely held businesses in accessing capital and navigating key liquidity and growth events. You will gain hands-on exposure to a wide range of capital markets transactions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Modeling: Build and maintain detailed financial models, including operating models, capitalization tables, dilution analyses, and comprehensive transaction scenarios across both equity and debt financings.
• Transaction Execution: Support the execution of diverse capital markets transactions, such as private placements, PIPE transactions, SPAC mergers/de-SPAC processes, bridge financings, and IPOs.
• Investor Materials: Prepare high-quality, investor-facing materials, including pitch decks, investor presentations, Confidential Information Memorandums (CIMs), and management presentations, leveraging analysis of company financials and key performance metrics.
• Market Research & Targeting: Conduct investor targeting and comprehensive market research, identifying relevant private equity firms, hedge funds, family offices, and institutional credit investors.
• Fundraising Process Management: Assist in managing the full fundraising process, encompassing investor outreach tracking, Q&A coordination, virtual data room management, and participation in investor calls and management meetings alongside senior bankers.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
• Experience: 1–2 years of experience in investment banking, capital markets, or transaction advisory; exposure to equity/debt raises, PIPEs, or SPAC transactions is a strong plus.
• Skills: Strong financial modeling skills, particularly around capital structure, dilution, and transaction analysis; experience preparing polished, investor-facing materials in PowerPoint; high attention to detail and ability to manage multiple live processes simultaneously; excellent communication skills and confidence interacting with clients and institutional investors.
• Bonus: Strong interest in capital markets and working with lower middle market, founder-led businesses; self-starter mindset with the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial team.
