Credit Research Analyst | Obra Capital

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Obra Capital, located in Montpelier. Obra Capital, through its Obra Institutional Credit arm, conducts research into high yield corporate debt across a variety of industries for institutional and private clients. This position plays a crucial part in supporting the Senior Credit team by providing foundational research, analysis, and data management, directly contributing to informed investment recommendations and client reporting.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support Research: Support senior credit analysts in conducting comprehensive market research across diverse sectors to underpin investment recommendations.
• Perform Analysis: Conduct industry assessments, review company financial reports, analyze earnings and news releases, and develop frameworks for relative value analysis.
• Model Valuations: Assist in the financial modelling and valuation process.
• Communicate Findings: Deliver concise verbal and written summaries, create analyses, and prepare presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage Data Inputs: Collect, monitor, systematize, and maintain crucial information and data sources essential for the credit investment decision-making process.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s (B.A. / B.S.) degree in finance, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or a related quantitative field is required, with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Experience: 1 year of direct experience or relevant internship experience in credit research, working as an analyst or associate at a top investment bank, private equity firm, or a comparable firm investing in broadly syndicated leveraged loans. Recent graduates with relevant internship experience will be considered.
• Skills: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with effective presentation abilities; self-driven, capable of working independently in a dynamic environment while also collaborating within a team; highly organized, able to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines independently.
• Bonus: A Master’s degree in similar fields is highly valued.
