Paralegal II, Litigation & Employment | Lyft

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Lyft, located in New York, NY on a hybrid schedule. This position plays a critical part in supporting Lyft’s in-house counsel and paralegal team, ensuring the efficiency and organization of the company’s employment and litigation operations. The role is vital for investigating claims, conducting factual inquiries, managing administrative tasks, and streamlining legal workflows.

• Team: Litigation & Employment team, working with in-house counsel and paralegals
• Mission: To investigate and respond to claims, conduct factual investigations, support administrative tracking, and maintain efficient, organized employment and litigation operations.
• Tech Stack: Mac environment, Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, etc.), Excel, Word, e-discovery tools

What You’ll Actually Do
• Supports: Supports in-house counsel with administrative, pre-litigation, litigation, and external legal requests.
• Manages: Manages, tracks, calendars, and files responses to claims.
• Investigates: Conducts factual investigations for administrative claims, demand letters, and other litigation and arbitration matters, and assists with drafting responses.
• Prepares: Prepares memoranda and summaries of factual research, offering recommendations to supervising attorneys.
• Executes: Completes court or agency filings and attends court appearances or agency hearings.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree with a focus on legal support within litigation and employment.
• Experience: 5+ years of relevant legal experience, including handling discovery in complex litigation matters.
• Skills: Strong oral and written communication, exceptionally organized and efficient, ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, proficiency in Mac environment, Google Apps, Excel, and Word, with familiarity in e-discovery tools.
• Bonus: Law firm experience preferred, ability to obtain a notary license.
