ABC Commission Legal Intern (Fall 2026) | UCI-OC Alliance
The Tone:
This is a hybrid internship at the ABC Commission, a division of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. The ABC Commission works to uphold the state’s alcoholic beverage laws and regulations. This role is crucial for providing essential legal support services, allowing college students and recent graduates to gain invaluable hands-on experience in administrative law and public service. What You’ll Actually Do
• Legal Office Support: Provide comprehensive legal office support, including preparing materials for agenda meetings.
• Legal Research: Conduct legal research to assist with various cases and projects within the commission.
• Document Drafting: Draft legal documents under the direct supervision of experienced legal professionals.
• Case Preparation: Assist in the preparation of legal cases, which involves reviewing files, organizing evidence, and attending court proceedings.
• Public Interaction: Engage in possible public interaction, handling inquiries and representing the commission professionally.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled college student or a recent graduate (within 6 months) interested in the legal field. Must submit current college transcripts (official or unofficial) to verify eligibility.
• Experience: No specific years of prior experience are required, as this internship is designed for gaining hands-on experience. Exposure to various aspects of administrative law and working with law enforcement and courtroom procedures will be part of the role.
• Skills: Ability to perform legal research, draft legal documents under supervision, assist with case preparation, review and organize files, and handle confidential information.
• Bonus: Ability to provide a letter of recommendation from a professional reference or academic advisor/professor prior to hiring.
