Palmdale Maintenance & Operations Senior Manager – Level 6 | Lockheed Martin

This position is critical for sustaining high-availability assets by leading 24/7/365 maintenance of essential equipment and infrastructure across the Palmdale plant and its regional sites, directly supporting and protecting critical mission infrastructure for a better tomorrow.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operational Leadership: Lead and direct 24/7/365 maintenance operations for critical equipment and infrastructure across the Palmdale plant and regional sites, ensuring continuous functionality.
• Functional Area Management: Directly manage diverse functional areas including electrical and mechanical maintenance, HVAC systems, plumbing, carpentry and painting, custodial services, groundskeeping, and the automated building management system.
• Maintenance Program Oversight: Oversee comprehensive maintenance programs for over 1,300 major assets, encompassing reactive emergency repairs, established preventive and predictive maintenance, and reliability-focused strategies.
• Contractor and Union Management: Manage all aspects of contractor and third-party services, such as fire protection, roof maintenance, elevators, and landscaping, while ensuring strict compliance with all bargaining-unit contracts.
• Crisis Response and Policy Development: Serve as the site representative for the Emergency Operations Center, providing essential emergency response and crisis management support, and develop and enforce Plant Engineering policies, budgetary controls, and asset-management strategies aligned with Air Force capital planning.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Manager with a successful track record of leading Plant Engineering/Maintenance teams, demonstrating strong leadership discretion and responsibility for budget oversight within a manufacturing or industrial plant engineering and maintenance environment. Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible to obtain a Secret security clearance.
• Experience: A minimum of 10 years of successful management experience with Plant Engineering/Maintenance teams, including direct budget oversight and leadership discretion. This includes experience managing in a union environment with comprehensive knowledge of collective bargaining agreements, and leading operations within a Government Owned Company Operated (GOCO) facility, especially at a large, multi-shift site. Proven experience in developing, implementing, and utilizing reliability centered maintenance strategies and programs, such as preventive and predictive maintenance, failure analysis, root cause analysis, equipment condition assessments, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) type strategies, coupled with a background in implementing or utilizing a computerized maintenance management system.
• Skills: Strong technical acumen, coupled with full spectrum leadership skills and analytical abilities to drive continuous improvement. Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills for effective team and stakeholder engagement. Exhibits the decisive, collaborative leadership, strong people-skills, and strategic vision necessary to inspire large teams, along with a steadfast commitment to safety, to protect critical mission infrastructure.
• Bonus: Experience specifically with preventive maintenance optimization strategies and a proven history utilizing Maintenance CMMS Systems such as MAXIMO or LM Buildings.
