• Team: Reports directly to a Budget Analyst, works closely with the CFO and Controller – Fiscal Operations.
• Mission: Manages funding-related matters and ensures financial compliance for agency programs, contracts, and grants.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Certify: Ensure accurate financial data reporting for assigned agency areas.
• Develop: Assist the Controller in creating annual and biennium agency budgets.
• Monitor: Track expenditures to ensure compliance with grant provisions and overall budget.
• Review: Examine contracts to verify funding sources and adherence to annual budgetary plans.
• Prepare: Help compile financial data for regular monthly and quarterly financial reviews.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This role requires a strong foundational understanding of the theories, principles, and practices of public finance. Candidates must have extensive knowledge of federal and state laws, policies, and procedures as they pertain to public finance programs, along with a comprehensive understanding of agency organization, function, and purpose. A degree is not required for this position.
• Experience: Specialized knowledge of automated fiscal systems is essential. Candidates should possess advanced knowledge of computer and software programs, demonstrating the ability to effectively utilize these skills in their assigned job functions.
• Skills:
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, particularly for addressing and resolving complex grant development issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective interaction with agency and non-agency finance staff, as well as the ability to understand and write reports.
• Superior organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills, coupled with dependability and attention to detail.
• The ability to accurately review, track, and analyze financial data, audit fiscal accounts, contracts, records, and financial reports.
• Flexibility and adaptability to respond quickly to issues, along with the capacity to formulate sound recommendations and make appropriate decisions considering potential impacts on agency programs.
• Bonus: This role may serve as a team lead, so the ability to coordinate the workflow of subordinate employees is a valuable asset.
