Job Description

Manager, TIM Actuarial IFRS17 | FWD Group

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at FWD Technology and Innovation Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (FWD TIM), located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. FWD Group is a pan-Asian life and health insurance business focused on customer-led, tech-enabled propositions to simplify insurance for 40 million customers. FWD TIM serves as a pivotal shared service location, providing essential business and technology services across the group. This role is crucial in actively building the TIM IFRS17 team by leading IFRS17 production and supporting key actuarial initiatives across FWD Group.

• Mission: To lead and manage the execution, validation, and analysis of IFRS17 production while supporting various Actuarial initiatives across FWD Group.
• Tech Stack: Prophet, Excel, Python

What You’ll Actually Do
• Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and manage the IFRS17 team’s performance, development, and morale, ensuring effective resource allocation.
• IFRS17 Production: Lead the execution, validation, and analysis of IFRS17 results for assigned business units, ensuring quality and on-time delivery.
• Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships and expectations of Group Office, assigned business units, and other key stakeholders, coordinating incoming requests.
• Issue Resolution & Improvement: Resolve complex and unprecedented issues, escalating when necessary, and approve updates to operation manuals based on production learnings.
• Project Management: Set project priorities for the team and oversee all deliverables for Actuarial initiatives requested by Group Actuarial and business units.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Manager-level professional with a strong understanding of actuarial valuation processes and IFRS17 within the insurance sector.
• Experience: 6 to 8 years of insurance experience in actuarial functions, coupled with solid Prophet experience.
• Skills: Strong Excel proficiency, good Python skills, advanced analytical capabilities, strong team leadership and management skills, good communication and presentation skills.
• Bonus: Fellowship or nearly fellowship member of an internationally recognised actuarial professional body.
