Financial Analyst – Finance | McLeod Health

The Tone:
This is an in-person role at McLeod Health, located in Florence, SC. McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not-for-profit organization, founded in 1906, dedicated to providing quality patient care across its 18-county service area. With a medical staff of over 900, more than 2,900 licensed nurses, and approximately 15,000 team members across seven hospitals and 90 physician practices, McLeod Health is a significant healthcare provider in the region. This Financial Analyst role is critical for supporting the organization’s financial operations, encompassing processes, analysis, planning, and reporting. The insights generated will directly guide leadership in improving financial performance, reducing costs, and ultimately enhancing the quality of patient care provided.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Analyze: Interpret complex financial data, identify and analyze trends or patterns with a high degree of accuracy, and provide insights that support outcome and impact-based decision-making.
• Report: Perform monthly and ad hoc reporting, preparing detailed pro formas based on historical, comparative, and projection data for various financial processes.
• Monitor: Track performance against established budgets, forecasts, and strategic goals, bringing forward insights, deviations from trends, and targets to guide leadership.
• Plan: Assist in the annual budget preparation and re-forecast processes, and support the development of reporting within financial systems and dashboards, including maintaining financial models.
• Partner: Collaborate closely with Finance Business Partners, actively engaging with assigned operational areas to support them in achieving their financial targets and goals.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: Demonstrated strong analytical skills, including the ability to identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex financial data with a high degree of accuracy.
• Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel.
• Bonus: Experience in hospital, physician practice, or health system finance; knowledge of ERP, EMR, cost accounting, or decision support systems (e.g., Oracle, EPIC, Strata); CPA, CFA, HFMA certification, or a Master’s degree (MBA/MHA).
