Finance Manager, Sub Same Day Expansion, Investments, and Strategy | Amazon
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Amazon, with locations available in New York, NY; Nashville, TN; Dallas, TX; Arlington, VA; and Bellevue, WA. Amazon is a global company focused on continuously improving the customer experience and driving long-term profitability across a portfolio of high-growth businesses, including Amazon Rapid Logistics (AMRL) and Sub Same Day (SSD). This role is crucial for designing and launching new businesses, influencing strategic direction, driving operational excellence, and making sound investment and expansion decisions within AMRL Finance, fusing customer experience, operational knowledge, and financial understanding.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Drive Investment Decisions: Build complex financial models and perform sophisticated analyses to support investment decisions for new business initiatives.
• Optimize Capital Planning: Lead capital planning and optimization efforts for the growing Sub Same Day (SSD) network, including building launch strategies, capex forecasting, allocation, and ROI analysis.
• Facilitate Strategic Partnerships: Partner with business teams to define financial and non-financial trade-offs, making thoughtful judgment calls in ambiguous environments.
• Enhance Financial Systems: Develop and implement scalable financial solutions to improve financial tools, technology, and processes.
• Communicate Financial Insights: Create clear and compelling narratives to articulate complex financial concepts to stakeholders and contribute to broader Finance community knowledge sharing.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field such as engineering, math, or computer science.
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in finance or a related analytical field, with a proven impact on business outcomes through financial models and recommendations.
• Skills: Financial modeling, sophisticated analysis, capital planning, forecasting, ROI analysis, data integrity problem-solving, strategic decision-making support, and excellent written and verbal communication.
• Bonus: MBA or CPA; 6+ years of experience in identifying and resolving complex data integrity issues; 6+ years of experience in solving business challenges through financial analysis; knowledge of SQL/ETL; experience with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g., MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP); experience with forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
