The Tone:
This is a full-time Legal Assistant role at a well-regarded regional defense litigation firm, located in Morris County, NJ. The firm is dedicated to providing robust legal defense for its clients, specializing in insurance defense litigation. This position is vital for ensuring attorneys receive comprehensive administrative and litigation support, directly contributing to the efficiency of legal operations and the firm’s overall success in managing complex caseloads. The ideal candidate will become an integral part of a team committed to excellence in legal defense.

• Mission: To provide essential administrative and litigation support, ensuring efficient operation for attorneys handling defense litigation matters.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Scheduling Management: Coordinate and manage complex attorney calendars, including scheduling meetings, depositions, court appearances, and client consultations, ensuring all deadlines are met and conflicts are resolved proactively.
• Comprehensive File Management: Establish and maintain organized physical and electronic case files, ensuring documents are accurately categorized, easily retrievable, and securely stored in compliance with firm protocols.
• Legal Document Preparation: Prepare, proofread, and finalize a variety of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, correspondence, and discovery requests, ensuring accuracy, proper formatting, and adherence to legal standards.
• Administrative Assistance: Provide essential administrative support to assigned attorneys, which includes managing incoming and outgoing communications, processing expenses, and maintaining office supplies to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Litigation Process Support: Assist attorneys throughout the litigation process by organizing exhibits, preparing materials for hearings and trials, and coordinating with courts and external parties as needed.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Solid foundation in legal support principles and practices, with a specific preference for experience within an insurance defense context.
• Experience: A proven track record of at least three (3) years of dedicated experience providing legal support in a law firm or corporate legal department setting.
• Skills: High proficiency in legal document preparation, meticulous attention to detail in file management, strong organizational and time management abilities for scheduling, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
