Job Description

Financial Analyst | Voice AI Space

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Bland AI, located in San Francisco. Bland AI develops a voice AI platform for enterprises, specifically designed to handle high-volume, complex call center operations. Their technology addresses critical infrastructure challenges like latency, reliability, and the inability to manage real-world complexity, which made early voice AI unusable for businesses. By owning the entire voice AI stack—transcription, LLM, and TTS—in-house, Bland AI achieves the uptime guarantees, data security, and customization needed by regulated industries, allowing the platform to autonomously resolve up to 65% of inbound calls. This role is crucial because the company is growing rapidly with a lean internal team, currently having only one person in finance. The individual in this position will establish and build out the foundational financial and operational infrastructure necessary for the company’s continued expansion. It is a foundational, hands-on role that offers direct visibility into business operations and how key decisions are made, providing significant learning opportunities within a startup environment.

The TL;DR
• Role: Early Career
• Type: Full-time
• Location: In-person, San Francisco, CA
• Pay: $80000–$135000 yearly
• Team: This role supports the existing finance function of one person and collaborates with accounting, sales, and operations teams.
• Mission: This person will build the financial and operational foundation for the company’s growth, making decisions based on accurate data and actionable insights.
• Tech Stack: Power BI, Excel

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Support compensation plans and commissions, ensuring accurate calculation and timely execution for sales and other teams.
• Report: Build essential reporting and dashboards, transforming raw data into clear, actionable financial insights for leadership and cross-functional partners.
• Analyze: Analyze bookings and revenue trends, identifying key patterns and drivers to inform strategic business decisions and growth initiatives.
• Plan: Assist with comprehensive budgeting and forecasting processes, contributing to financial projections and strategic resource allocation.
• Improve: Improve existing systems the company uses to make operational and financial decisions, streamlining processes and enhancing data accuracy.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related academic track is required. This is an early-career role specifically for someone who desires substantial responsibility and accelerated learning, valuing practical experience over established prestige.
• Experience: Some exposure to finance, accounting, operations, or consulting is expected. Candidates must be highly self-directed, demonstrating the ability to operate effectively in low-context environments where problems are given without predefined instructions. They should be willing to do foundational, sometimes repetitive, and often unstructured work well.
• Skills: A strong foundational understanding of finance is essential, along with comfort and proficiency in tools like Power BI and Excel. Key personal attributes include strong problem-solving instincts, a comfort with ambiguity inherent in a rapidly evolving startup, and a commitment to treating small details seriously to ensure reliable operations.
• Bonus: 1+ years of professional experience in investment banking (with a tech focus preferred), a finance role at a high-growth startup, or an equivalent position. Experience with accounting, FP&A, and revenue recognition principles, as well as involvement in M&A or strategic financial projects, would be a strong advantage.
