Trial Division-Trial Preparation Assistant, Level II | City of New York
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at City of New York, specifically within the Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County (BXDA), located in Bronx, NY. The BXDA is a public service organization dedicated to ensuring public safety and striving for equal justice for the Bronx community. This role is crucial for assisting Assistant District Attorneys in the Homicide Bureau and Trial Division with all aspects of case preparation, from intake to final disposition, contributing directly to the pursuit of justice and fairness for crime victims and defendants.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Document Management: Compile, analyze, redact, and reproduce case documents to ensure discovery compliance and comprehensive case preparation.
• Record Retrieval: Timely retrieve all necessary documents and records from law enforcement agencies, hospitals, and other entities.
• Legal Document Preparation: Prepare and file various legal documents, including motion responses, legal memorandums, search warrants, subpoenas, and court orders.
• Witness & Agency Coordination: Engage in witness contact and communication to secure corroborating affidavits, and produce effective communication with different agencies.
• Court Support: Accompany Assistant District Attorneys in court to observe proceedings, capture updates, and provide direct assistance during trials.
The Must-Haves
• Background: High school graduation or equivalent, combined with three years of experience in community work or community-centered activities relevant to the duties described.
• Experience: Minimum of three years of relevant experience. A valid New York State driver’s license with a minimum of two years of driving experience is required and must be maintained.
• Skills: Exceptional organizational skills, strong attention to detail, excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Bonus: A baccalaureate degree is preferred, along with discretion and integrity to work on highly confidential investigations, and familiarity with general court services and functions.
