Legal Intern (Fall) | Major League Baseball (MLB)

The Tone:
This is a Legal Intern (Fall) position at Major League Baseball, located in New York, NY. Major League Baseball manages and promotes the most historic professional sports league in the United States and Canada, dedicated to fostering the growth and enduring appeal of America’s pastime for its fans. This pivotal role supports the Department of Investigations in addressing highly sensitive and confidential matters, encompassing player, umpire, and various baseball personnel conduct. The intern will immerse themselves at the critical intersection of sports, compliance, and investigations, contributing to the league’s integrity while gaining invaluable experience in a professional setting.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Investigations Support: Support ongoing investigations into allegations concerning performance-enhancing substances, sports gambling, domestic violence, and other misconduct violating baseball rules and policies.
• Information Analysis: Gather and analyze publicly available information from various sources, including government records, social media, and news reports.
• Legal Research & Writing: Conduct thorough legal research and prepare comprehensive memoranda on a diverse range of legal topics relevant to investigations.
• Document Management: Review, analyze, and organize documents efficiently within a specified document review platform.
• Reporting & Preservation: Prepare timely, organized, and user-friendly reports of gathered information, while also securing and preserving critical data.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in an American Bar Association Accredited Law School.
• Experience: Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Skills:
• Research & Writing: Possess strong research and writing capabilities essential for legal analysis and documentation.
• Organization & Detail: Exhibit an organized and detail-oriented approach to tasks and project management.
• Time Management: Ability to effectively manage multiple deliverables while adhering to strict, time-sensitive deadlines.
• Professionalism: Maintain a high level of professional demeanor in all interactions and work output.
• Bonus: Language: Fluency in Spanish, both oral and written communication.
