What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Planning: Prepare comprehensive operating budgets, accurate financial forecasts, and detailed variance analyses, all specifically tailored for the intricate demands of logistics and transportation operations to support sound strategic financial planning.
• Expense Monitoring: Continuously monitor and meticulously analyze a wide array of operating expenses, which notably include critical elements such as fuel consumption, transportation costs, labor expenditures, maintenance outlays, and insurance premiums, ensuring robust financial oversight.
• Model Development: Develop sophisticated financial models using Microsoft Excel, leveraging its advanced capabilities to support in-depth cost analysis, facilitate precise budgeting processes, and enhance the accuracy of financial forecasting efforts.
• Reporting & Dashboards: Prepare periodic financial reports and insightful management dashboards, providing clear and actionable analyses of both operational and financial performance to key stakeholders and leadership.
• Performance Analysis: Conduct timely and incisive ad hoc financial analyses and interpret complex financial and operational data to diligently identify emerging trends, accurately assess variances from planned outcomes, and proactively recommend specific, actionable measures designed to improve cost control and boost overall profitability, also supporting pricing decisions, contract evaluation, and business planning.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s Degree is strictly required for this position, specifically in Finance, Quantitative Finance, or a closely related field that provides a robust foundation in financial principles, analytical methodologies, and economic understanding.
• Experience: Candidates must possess a minimum of six months of professional experience serving as a Financial Analyst. This experience must have been gained specifically within the logistics or transportation industry, ensuring direct and relevant understanding of the unique operational and financial challenges pertinent to the sector.
• Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in a comprehensive suite of financial analysis techniques, including expert-level budgeting, precise forecasting, and meticulous variance analysis. An essential requirement is strong command and practical application of Microsoft Excel for developing sophisticated financial models and performing in-depth data analysis. Furthermore, a solid familiarity with the distinct cost structures inherent to the logistics and transportation sector, such as transportation, fuel, labor, and general operating expenses, is also required for success in this role.
