Finance Co-op -Intern | Gorton’s
The Tone:
This is an internship at Gorton’s, located in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Since 1849, Gorton’s has built a national brand trusted by America, committed to spreading the goodness of the sea by making quality seafood accessible to everyone. This internship provides a rich opportunity for professional growth within a collaborative environment. The intern will contribute directly to either the Customer Finance or Financial Accounting area, supporting critical financial operations and gaining a foundational understanding of the company’s financial structure and cross-functional interactions.

• Location: In-person, Gloucester, MA
• Pay: $20–$25 hourly
• Mission: This person supports financial operations by contributing to either customer finance or financial accounting activities.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Customer Finance Transactions: Contribute directly to the oversight of financial transactions conducted between Gorton’s and its customer base, which includes large retail grocery chains across both the United States and Canada.
• Financial Accounting Operations: Perform and support a variety of financial accounting responsibilities, including contributions to financial reporting, audit preparation, managing cash, treasury activities, cost accounting, inventory audit procedures, and processing accounts payable.
• Internal Department Collaboration: Work closely and effectively with various functional areas throughout the company, fostering interactions with teams such as Marketing, Sales, Operations, Information Technology, and Logistics.
• Finance Activity Comprehension: Develop a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the diverse range of finance activities and processes that are integral to Gorton’s operations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidate for a Bachelor’s Degree, specifically majoring in Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field, who possesses a clear career interest in Corporate Finance or Accounting.
• Experience: This is an entry-level position intended for a student, with no explicit prior work experience required.
• Skills: Demonstrated ability to work independently, maintain outstanding attention to accuracy and detail in all tasks, possess solid written and verbal communication skills, exhibit initiative as a self-starter, demonstrate solid PC proficiency, and show an ability to effectively interact with a wide range of people across the organization.
• Bonus: Gorton’s prefers candidates who are completing their Junior year of college.
