The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Mizuho, located in New York, NY. Mizuho’s Banking Division serves leading international corporations, financial institutions, and public sector entities across the US and Canada by providing corporate and investment banking coverage, advisory services, and capital markets solutions. The Power & Utilities team is a recognized leader, ranking #7 in overall US market share and top 5 across capital markets products, with significant growth in M&A mandates. This role is crucial as Analysts are directly involved in the design, origination, structuring, and execution of various financial products and services, contributing essential analysis and insights to enhance client deliverables.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Business Development: Prepare client pitches and marketing materials for M&A, syndicated bank financing, and capital markets transactions by coordinating internal and external resources.
• Financial Analysis: Conduct financial modeling, valuation, comparable and relative value analyses, and market-specific analysis to inform client strategies.
• Industry Research: Perform detailed industry analysis focusing on regulatory environments, rate cases, capital expenditure plans, and utility financial frameworks.
• Transaction Support: Assist in evaluating risk/return parameters, structuring, underwriting transaction evaluation, preparation, due diligence, and execution for various financing transactions.
• Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively within deal teams to achieve business objectives and participate in franchise and culture building activities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An undergraduate degree with coursework in finance, economics, or accounting, coupled with an outstanding academic record. A solid understanding of corporate finance, securities, financial markets, and risk & pricing analysis is required.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, or capital markets acquired at a top-tier bank.
• Skills: Exceptional quantitative analytics, financial modeling, and credit analysis skills, strong written and oral communication, the ability to synthesize large amounts of information, manage multiple projects simultaneously under pressure, and advanced proficiency with FactSet, CapitalIQ, Bloomberg, and Microsoft Office.
• Bonus: Series 79 & 63 licenses are preferred.
