Senior Production Controller – Technical Operations | United Airlines

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at United Airlines. The company operates a global fleet of aircraft, connecting customers to their desired destinations. This position is vital for the Technical Operations team, ensuring that aircraft are meticulously cared for and maintained to the highest standards. The role contributes directly to the readiness and reliability of the fleet, enabling United to meet its operational goals and safely transport customers.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Strategic Planning: Develop comprehensive long-range plans for all upcoming aircraft maintenance events, ensuring a logical sequence of work.
• Workflow Management: Direct the daily management and workflow of aircraft or shop workloads, effectively optimizing resources and building task assignments for oncoming shifts.
• Cross-Departmental Coordination: Liaise with multiple internal and external departments, including vendor support companies, to resolve operational issues and ensure all required resources are available to maintain aircraft flow.
• Accountability and Compliance: Manage all aspects of paperwork accountability and regulatory compliance throughout the aircraft induction, daily flow, and release processes.
• Performance Analysis and Reporting: Compile, analyze, and report on maintenance check performance, including aircraft material costs and cross-event analysis, while forecasting and planning for necessary headcount.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a High School diploma or equivalent, coupled with a solid background in aviation, general management, or operations management.
• Experience: A minimum of 3 years of direct aviation experience is required, along with an active FAA Airframe & Powerplant License.
• Skills: Demonstrate proficiency in MS Office applications, strong data analytics capabilities, and excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to interact effectively across all levels. Candidates must also be able to handle simultaneous projects and adapt to a changing environment.
• Bonus: A Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of equivalent relevant work experience is highly desirable. Preferred candidates will also have 5+ years of aircraft maintenance and production control experience, heavy aircraft maintenance planning expertise, working knowledge of SCEPTRE, and an understanding of industry-applicable process improvement methodologies like Lean Six Sigma (LSS).
