Litigation Legal Assistant | Adams & Reese

What You’ll Actually Do
• Document Processing: Prepare, process, and proofread a variety of legal documents, coordinating their delivery to clients, counsel, and court officials.
• Information Management: Organize and maintain court pleadings, discovery documents, emails, correspondence, and hard copies within electronic databases, while also obtaining background information on parties and witnesses using Westlaw and Lexis.
• Communication & Coordination: Serve as a point of contact for clients, court personnel, experts, and attorneys, managing communications via telephone, email, and in-person interactions.
• Calendar & File Management: Electronically maintain calendars for supervisors, scheduling appointments and docketing critical dates, and manage the opening, closing, and retrieval of client and business files.
• Litigation Support: Assist with comprehensive preparation for trials, depositions, and hearings, including organizing attorney notebooks and exhibits, and finalize billing invoices for attorney review and client payment.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Experienced professional with a minimum of 5 years of legal secretarial experience, specifically in litigation or a related area of law.
• Experience: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, alongside competency in computer usage. May require knowledge of real estate closing procedures and terminology.
• Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including strong spelling, punctuation, and grammar, coupled with knowledge of legal terminology. Ability to type 65 wpm, excellent organizational abilities, and strong interpersonal skills.
• Bonus: A college degree or paralegal skills are considered advantageous.
