ANALYST II | CA Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at CA Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation, located in Sacramento, CA with a hybrid telework option. The Department enhances public safety and promotes successful community reintegration through education, treatment, and rehabilitative programs. This role is crucial in supporting the Office of Legal Affairs’ Complex Litigation Unit, which ensures the Department’s operations are conducted effectively and align with legal requirements concerning class action and complex litigation matters.

• Team: Complex Litigation Administrative Support team, reporting to a Supervisor I
• Mission: Provide administrative, technical, consultative, and analytical support on complex litigation matters brought against the Department.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Suite, Excel

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Perform a wide variety of administrative, technical, consultative, and analytical support for complex and critical Departmental issues concerning class action and complex litigation lawsuits.
• Collaborate: Work with attorneys, internal CDCR divisions, the Office of the Attorney General, external agencies, stakeholders, and the private sector on case issues, document production, and court orders.
• Knowledge Acquisition: Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of Departmental activities, policies, procedures, projects, and assignments, staying apprised of related changes.
• Workflow Management: Manage workload effectively under interruptions, re-prioritize tasks with short deadlines, and maintain performance under pressure and competing deadlines.
• Quality Assurance: Lead meetings, proactively identify and correct potential discrepancies, ensuring all assignment tasks are completed with precision and on deadline.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Meets Minimum Qualifications for the Analyst II classification, as detailed in the Class Specification.
• Experience: Prior experience applying analytical support, managing administrative tasks, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders on legal or complex issues.
• Skills: Detail-oriented, highly organized, proactive, comfortable managing workload under interruptions, capable of re-prioritizing tasks, and adept at working under pressure and competing deadlines.
• Bonus: Experience interpreting and applying laws, rules, regulations, and policies; analyzing data/documents for independent decision-making; using Excel for reports; taking initiative to research and solve complex problems; leading meetings or presentations; reviewing confidential legal case documents; willingness to promote an inclusive workplace.
