Law Clerk (Estate Planning) | Haraka Headhunters

The Tone:
This is a full-time, on-site Law Clerk position located in Chicago, IL. Haraka Headhunters LLC is a legal search firm engaged by a top-rated Illinois-based boutique law practice, which specializes in estate planning and trust law. The firm is experiencing a significant increase in client workflow and new business, creating a current two-month client waitlist and a bottleneck for their attorneys. This experienced Law Clerk will be a crucial addition to the Chicago team, stepping into immediate client work and managing an expanding trust-administration pipeline. The role operates within a collaborative, non-cutthroat environment supported by long-tenured staff, offering an opportunity to contribute significantly to the firm’s service delivery and continued growth for its 9,000+ clients.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Attorney Assistance: Provide strong clerkship support to attorneys by assisting with various aspects of estate planning and trust law, directly contributing to client case progression.
• Client Engagement: Step into immediate client work, directly addressing the firm’s two-month client waitlist and alleviating the current bottleneck for attorneys.
• Trust Pipeline Management: Take responsibility for managing tasks within a growing trust-administration pipeline, ensuring timely and effective handling for the firm’s 9,000+ clients.
• Document and Communication Support: Utilize proficiency in Microsoft Office for the preparation, organization, and management of legal documents and client communications.
• Technology Application: Apply knowledge of legal practice management software, such as Smokeball, to optimize workflow and maintain accurate client records and case details.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate preferred, with core domain knowledge in estate planning and trust law.
• Experience: 5 years of relevant experience, demonstrating a stable work history and a track record of loyalty and longevity in prior roles, with strong clerkship experience.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Bonus: Experience with legal practice management software, such as Smokeball.
