Financial Analyst | UCSF Health

The Tone:
This is a Financial Analyst role at UCSF Health, a leading academic medical center dedicated to advancing health worldwide. The position requires a hybrid presence, with weekly one-day on-site work in San Francisco, CA. This role is crucial for ensuring sound budgetary and financial management across key clinical divisions, directly contributing to the fiscal health and operational success of the Department of Medicine’s clinical enterprise.

• Mission: Manages budgetary and financial operations for assigned clinical divisions to support the Department of Medicine’s clinical enterprise.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Conduct comprehensive budgetary and financial management for three to four designated clinical divisions within the Department of Medicine’s clinical enterprise at the Parnassus / Mt. Zion sites.
• Oversee approximately one-third of the Department’s $167 million clinical enterprise by ensuring robust financial oversight for assigned divisions.
• Administer and track $6.2 million across 149 annual financial commitments made to the various clinical divisions.
• Execute ad hoc financial analyses and provide essential decision support, leveraging expertise as a seasoned professional with a full understanding of industry practices and organizational policies and procedures.
• Address diverse and complex financial issues by performing thorough data analysis, evaluating identifiable factors, and developing imaginative yet practical solutions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in a related area, coupled with thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
• Experience: Three or more years of relevant experience, demonstrating proven proficiency with spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reporting.
• Skills: Ability to independently gather and organize information to conduct financial analysis assignments effectively; proven ability to communicate financial information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing; strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with peers across the organization, coupled with a service orientation, critical thinking, and meticulous attention to detail; proven capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously within a high-volume financial environment; demonstrated adaptability to changing priorities and evolving financial requirements; and capacity to function effectively and collaboratively as a member of a financial team.
