Investment Banking Associate Corporate Finance – Consumer & Retail | Citizens
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Citizens, an organization with a rapidly growing investment banking platform that holds market-leading positions in middle-market corporate and sponsor-backed transactions. As an Investment Banking Associate, you will be essential in supporting senior professionals in client advisory, originating, and executing capital markets and M&A transactions, directly contributing to client success and the firm’s strategic objectives. • Mission: Support the team’s senior professionals in industry-focused client advisory and originate and execute capital markets and M&A transactions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Development: Work with senior bankers across various product groups to develop new business ideas, pitch strategies, and transaction financing scenarios for corporate clients and financial sponsors.
• Financial Analysis & Modeling: Perform extensive financial statement modeling for diverse transaction scenarios and conduct comprehensive company and industry research.
• Transaction Execution Leadership: Play a key leadership role throughout the transaction execution process, coordinating indicative transaction structures, pricing guidance, and managing screening and approval processes.
• Due Diligence & Documentation: Participate in accounting, business, and legal due diligence, and work with legal counsel and clients to draft and negotiate legal documentation.
• Team Management: Be responsible for supervising and developing analyst-level bankers, contributing to their growth and knowledge transfer within the group.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Undergraduate degree with a strong academic record from a leading university, with core domain knowledge in M&A, Corporate Finance, Leveraged Finance, or Capital Markets.
• Experience: 3+ years of direct experience in M&A, Corporate Finance, Leveraged Finance, or Capital Markets, demonstrating the ability to immediately contribute based on experience.
• Skills: Demonstrated aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis, solid understanding of financial statements, financial modeling, excellent oral and written communication, and strong project management capabilities.
• Bonus: MBA, attendance in a formal investment or corporate banking training program, or FINRA Series 79 (or 7) and Series 63 licenses.
