The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Dodge & Cox, located in San Francisco, CA. Dodge & Cox is an investment management firm responsible for evaluating investments in companies globally. This role is crucial as the Investment Associate works directly alongside an Industry Analyst, researching, analyzing, and monitoring investments. This position directly supports the firm’s global investment strategy by contributing to the evaluation of potential and existing portfolio companies.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Research: Research and perform due diligence on potential investments across various industries.
• Monitoring: Monitor existing portfolio investments, competitor activities, and broader industry developments.
• Modeling: Build and maintain comprehensive financial and valuation models to support investment analysis.
• Engagement: Engage directly with company management teams, industry experts, and sell-side analysts.
• Presentation: Create clear and concise investment-related presentation materials for internal and external use.
The Must-Haves
• Background: B.A. or B.S. degree with an excellent academic record, demonstrating a strong foundation in basic accounting knowledge.
• Experience: One to two years of related work experience or an undergraduate experience that demonstrates exceptional potential, including experience with financial modeling.
• Skills: Strong quantitative and analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the initiative to manage multiple projects simultaneously. A demonstrated interest in financial markets and value investing is essential.
• Bonus: Coursework in economics and statistics is considered a plus, as is a desire to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
