Investment Banking Analyst Internship | Summer 2027 (NC) | FMI

The Tone:
This is an internship role at FMI, located in Raleigh, NC. FMI Corporation has been the leading consulting and investment banking firm exclusively serving the built environment for over 70 years. The firm provides advisory services across industries such as Building Products & Materials, Chemicals, Energy Transition, and Engineering & Construction. This role matters because interns provide direct support to the investment banking group, gaining valuable exposure to financial analysis, research, and the preparation of materials essential for mergers & acquisitions, ESOP advisory, and financial sponsor transactions.

• Team: Investment banking group, placed as a generalist across industry and product coverage teams
• Mission: Support the firm’s investment banking group through financial analysis, research, and the creation of transaction materials for clients in the built environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Industry Research: Conduct research on industries, markets, and specific companies.
• Financial Analysis: Perform financial analysis and develop financial models.
• Material Preparation: Assist with the preparation of transaction marketing materials, including pitch books, teasers, confidential information memorandums, and management presentations.
• Trend Analysis: Research trends in various industry sectors.
• Group Support: Provide support to members of the investment banking group and perform other assigned duties.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Penultimate year undergraduate student with outstanding academic achievement seeking a summer internship with the opportunity for 2028 full-time conversion upon graduation, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field from a top-tier university.
• Experience: Demonstrated superior performance in extracurricular and professional activities.
• Skills: Strong quantitative and analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent research and information management, superior organizational and time management, excellent written and verbal communication, listening, problem-solving, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
• Bonus: Demonstrated maturity, integrity, and the ability to perform in an entrepreneurial environment, both individually and as a team player.
