Project Specialist General Litigation | Con Edison

The Tone:
This is an experienced individual contributor role at Con Edison, a major energy utility, located in New York, NY. This position is a high-impact legal operations role within the company’s General Litigation Department, where you will help drive critical legal processes forward. The role focuses on ensuring legal matters proceed efficiently and accurately, contributing to the modernization of legal operations and data-driven decision-making. It offers the chance to enhance the efficiency of essential legal work within a sophisticated in-house litigation function.

The TL;DR
• Role: Experienced Individual Contributor
• Location: In-person, New York, NY

• Team: Within the General Litigation Department, partnering with senior legal leaders and outside counsel.
• Mission: Drive outside counsel management, litigation workflows, reporting, and executive support for the General Litigation Department.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office, SharePoint, databases, legal matter management systems

What You’ll Actually Do
• Coordinate: Manage General Litigation’s Outside Counsel Program, including matter transfers, file coordination, and workflow documentation.
• Facilitate: Ensure accurate and timely transfer of litigation matters and related records to outside counsel.
• Administer: Prepare and manage legal documentation for outside counsel engagements, settlements, and subpoenas.
• Report: Develop dashboards and executive materials to support litigation oversight and track essential data for operational management.
• Improve: Identify and implement opportunities to enhance processes, streamline workflows, and leverage legal technology.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree with 3 years of related work experience in legal operations, litigation support, outside counsel coordination, or a comparable legal environment.
• Experience: 3+ years managing legal workflows, case transfers, and litigation-related documentation.
• Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, databases, and legal matter management systems.
• Bonus: Experience supporting legal spend, billing, accruals, or related reporting.
