VC Investment Intern | SAV (Scale Asia Ventures)

The Tone:
This is an internship at SAV (Scale Asia Ventures), offering the flexibility of working on-site in Palo Alto or remotely. SAV is a distinguished multi-stage venture fund, deeply focused on Enterprise Software and AI-powered Vertical Industries, and supported by a robust network of institutional investors and leading global conglomerates. This role is essential for contributing to the core investment team, playing a part in the firm’s mission to identify and nurture innovative startups, and equipping them with the resources and insights necessary to thrive in global markets. Your contributions will directly assist in expanding SAV’s impactful portfolio of companies.

The TL;DR

• Mission: Support the investment team by conducting critical research, evaluating new opportunities, and preparing detailed analysis to grow SAV’s portfolio of innovative global startups.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Market Analysis: Conduct comprehensive market research to identify emerging industry trends, competitive landscapes, and promising sectors within Enterprise Software, AI, and potentially Life Sciences, informing potential investment theses.
• Opportunity Evaluation: Analyze prospective investment opportunities, performing initial due diligence, assessing business models, market fit, and team capabilities for alignment with SAV’s strategic focus.
• Financial Modeling: Create and refine financial models, including valuation analyses and projections, to support the rigorous evaluation and decision-making processes for potential portfolio companies.
• Investment Reporting: Prepare detailed investment reports and memos, synthesizing complex data, research findings, and financial analyses into clear, concise, and actionable recommendations for the investment team.
• Strategic Contribution: Assist in tracking the performance of existing portfolio companies, monitoring broader industry developments, and actively contributing to the formulation of SAV’s overarching investment strategies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a foundational academic background by currently pursuing or having recently completed a degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, or a closely related analytical field, indicating an Entry-Level career stage.
• Experience: Demonstrate a solid understanding of fundamental investment principles, various investment strategies, core finance concepts, and practical knowledge of investment management and portfolio tracking methodologies.
• Skills: Exhibit strong analytical capabilities for assessing complex data and identifying key trends, coupled with meticulous attention to detail, critical thinking, and robust problem-solving abilities to navigate intricate challenges.
• Bonus: Show a distinct interest or prior experience in the Enterprise Software, Life Sciences, or Artificial Intelligence (AI) industries, along with a proven ability to work effectively in a remote or hybrid collaborative environment with a high degree of autonomy and minimal supervision.
