The Tone:
This is a full-time role at MetLife, located in a hybrid capacity requiring a minimum of three days per week in office. MetLife is a globally recognized leader in financial services, providing insurance, annuities, employee benefits, and comprehensive asset management to individual and institutional customers across over 40 international markets. The Analyst position is crucial for the Private Asset-Based Finance (PABF) team, directly supporting the origination, execution, and ongoing management of investment grade asset-based finance opportunities across a diverse range of industries and sectors, thereby contributing significantly to MetLife Investment Management’s strategic objectives and overall financial health.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Execution: Support the complete investment process, including thorough underwriting, detailed financial analysis, drafting essential investment memos, facilitating trade execution, and ensuring smooth transaction closings, while also assisting in the preparation of materials for Investment Committee reviews.
• Diligence & Market Analysis: Prepare informative presentations, conduct comprehensive market research to identify trends and opportunities, and meticulously review all offering documents, third-party research, and critical rating reports to inform investment decisions.
• Client & Issuer Engagement: Actively participate in external roadshows, professional meetings, and rigorous due diligence sessions conducted with both issuers and sponsors of potential investment opportunities, building key relationships.
• Structuring & Evaluation: Analyze complex legal structures and assess transaction frameworks with expert guidance from both internal and external legal counsel, ensuring compliance and optimal deal terms.
• Portfolio Management: Continuously monitor the performance of deals within the portfolio, produce timely and insightful reporting for leadership, and provide support for various client investment requests, ensuring proactive portfolio oversight.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or business-related field such as Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or Mathematics, or a closely related discipline.
• Experience: No explicit years of experience are required for this role; however, prior experience with credit underwriting and/or illiquid structured private placements is considered a standout preferred qualification.
• Skills: Demonstrate strong analytical capabilities, proficiency in quantitative modeling, and excellent writing skills; exhibit outstanding communication, interpersonal, and client-focused abilities; be proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, along with advanced expertise in Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and chart creation.
• Bonus: Hold a CFA® charterholder designation, possess an advanced business or accounting degree, or have familiarity with financial platforms like Bloomberg and Salesforce.
