Equity Research, Vice President, Energy & Infrastructure | BTIG
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at BTIG, a global financial services firm specializing in institutional trading, investment banking, research, and related brokerage services. With an extensive global footprint and over 700 employees, BTIG operates out of 20 cities worldwide. This Vice President position is crucial for the Equity Research team, directly supporting Senior Analysts in the Energy and Infrastructure sectors. The individual filling this role will contribute directly to robust client recommendations and informed investment themes by conducting essential primary research and detailed financial analysis.

• Mission: Assist Senior Analysts in covering Energy & Infrastructure focused companies by conducting primary research, financial analysis, and due diligence.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Modeling: Construct and maintain sophisticated financial models to support company analysis, client recommendations, and investment themes.
• Market Monitoring: Monitor and communicate daily news flows, sector developments, and key company events to senior analysts.
• Primary Research: Design and execute primary research, including surveys of physicians and engagement with Key Opinion Leaders, to gather proprietary insights.
• Report Generation: Draft and contribute to comprehensive research reports, including original ideas, sector and company updates, breaking news, and initiation coverage.
• Relationship Building: Develop and sustain relationships with company management teams, industry contacts, and internal sales and trading personnel, and institutional investors as experience grows.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree required, with a focus on core domain knowledge in Energy and Infrastructure. While not mandatory, advanced degrees such as a PhD or MD in relevant fields are highly valued.
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in equity research or investment banking is preferred. Candidates should also demonstrate a passion for biotechnology and life sciences sectors, as stated in the job description.
• Skills: Advanced skill in building and maintaining comprehensive financial models and forecasts is essential. The role demands exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail, coupled with a strong work ethic, creative problem-solving abilities, and a resourceful approach to conducting in-depth research. The ability to excel in high-intensity, fast-paced environments with tight deadlines is also critical.
• Bonus: Preferred qualifications include Series SIE, 63, 86 & 87 licensing, though these are not a prerequisite for hiring.
