Musket Trading and Commodities Internship (Summer 2027) | Love’s Travel Stops
The Tone:
This is a summer internship at Love’s Travel Stops, specifically within its Musket Corp division, located in Houston, TX. Love’s Travel Stops is a family-owned and operated business, headquartered in Oklahoma City since 1964, that fuels customers’ journeys by providing travel stops, products, and services for professional drivers, fleets, the traveling public, RVers, and alternative energy and wholesale fuel customers. The Musket Corp internship program is highly competitive and designed to offer students meaningful opportunities to gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of the energy trading business. Participants will develop valuable skills and industry knowledge beyond the classroom, while also learning the professional standards and etiquette of a corporate environment. What You’ll Actually Do
• Analysis: Perform market analysis to inform trading strategies.
• Reconciliation: Reconcile product inventory to ensure accurate records.
• Reporting: Generate reports on trade risk to support compliance.
• Cost Review: Conduct cost analysis for various business functions.
• Data Management: Research and validate data for business operations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A student currently enrolled in a four-year university program, at a sophomore level or above, pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree. The preferred fields of study include Business Administration (with a focus on Economics or Finance), Business Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Quantitative studies, or a closely related field, which provide a strong foundation for a commodities trading environment.
• Experience: No prior internship experience is strictly required, though past internship experience in a relevant field is considered a plus.
• Skills: Possess a keen attention to detail, strong oral and verbal communication skills, and robust organizational abilities. Candidates should be critical thinkers and effective team players, alongside having knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and general computer proficiency.
• Bonus: Experience with Python, SQL, or other related coding skills.
