Private Equity Portfolio Analyst | Connect Search, LLC

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at a private equity firm, supported by Connect Search, LLC. The firm is dedicated to managing investment portfolios by meticulously evaluating financial and operational performance across its diverse portfolio companies. This position is central to identifying key operational drivers, uncovering emerging risks, and pinpointing value creation opportunities. Your work will directly inform strategic decision-making, facilitate crucial investor communications, and contribute to the firm’s overall investment return analyses.

What You’ll Actually Do
Performance & Value Analysis: Partner with investment professionals and portfolio company finance teams to thoroughly evaluate financial and operational performance, identifying key operational drivers, emerging risks, and value creation opportunities through detailed company and portfolio analysis.
Data & Analytics Infrastructure: Aggregate and evaluate company-specific and portfolio-wide KPI data to support portfolio management and strategic decision-making; this includes maintaining and enhancing the portfolio data and analytics infrastructure used for performance monitoring, benchmarking, and investment return analyses.
Financial Trend & Market Research: Analyze historical and projected growth, margin, and cash flow trends across portfolio companies, complemented by performing industry research, benchmarking, and thematic portfolio analyses to inform strategic insights.
Investor Communications & Valuation Support: Prepare comprehensive presentations and analytical materials for critical fundraising and investor communications, including annual meetings and advisory board calls, while also assisting in the firm’s quarterly valuation process and contributing to various ad-hoc analytical initiatives.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline, complemented by a strong academic record.
• Experience: Relevant professional experience in areas such as financial due diligence, corporate finance, FP&A, financial/management consulting, or audit.
• Skills: Possess a strong working knowledge of financial statements, accrual accounting, and EBITDA adjustments; demonstrate proficiency with modern analytics tools including Excel, Power BI, and Snowflake, with the ability to automate and scale recurring workflows; exhibit a demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Copilot to automate workflows and accelerate analytical tasks; operate with a highly detail-oriented and proactive approach, coupled with a strong sense of ownership and urgency.
• Bonus: CPA preferred (or progress toward); CFA a plus.
