Finance Analyst – NYC | Thera

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Thera, located in New York City. Thera is building the core financial operating system for modern SMBs, encompassing payroll, payments, treasury, spend, accounting, and documents in one integrated platform. This position is for a detail-oriented, numbers-focused analyst who will work directly with the CEO to help guide the company’s financial strategy and operations. Your analytical contributions will be central to critical decisions impacting hiring, product development, pricing strategies, and capital allocation.

• Mission: This person provides comprehensive analytical support and financial insights to leadership, ensuring data-driven decisions for critical areas like product development, pricing, hiring, and capital management.
• Tech Stack: Excel, Google Sheets, SQL

What You’ll Actually Do
Financial Close: Own monthly close support, including reconciliations, flux analysis, and variance reports.
Forecasting: Build and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly cash forecasts and liquidity plans.
Modeling: Model unit economics and run cohort analysis across products and segments.
Planning: Lead budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning with department heads.
Reporting: Prepare investor and board reporting packs, including key metrics, KPIs, and commentary for leadership.

The Must-Haves
Background: 0–3 years of professional experience in finance, specifically within a startup/fintech environment, investment banking, or Big 4 accounting with exposure to early-stage companies.
Experience: Demonstrated ability to think and operate like an early-stage founder, with a strong bias to action, comfort with ambiguity, and a willingness to build processes and models from the ground up.
Skills: Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets, including the ability to build complex financial models from scratch. A meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy, meeting deadlines, and producing clean, audit-ready financial work. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders and founders.
Bonus: Familiarity with SQL or similar data querying tools, enabling independent data extraction and cleaning for analysis. A strong preference for working in-person, 5 days a week, in our New York City office, collaborating closely with the CEO and founding team.
