Financial Analyst | Cleveland-Cliffs

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Cleveland-Cliffs, located in Butler, PA. Cleveland-Cliffs is North America’s largest flat-rolled steel company and iron ore pellet producer, operating as a vertically integrated organization from raw materials to finished steel products. This position is crucial for preparing and analyzing financial records, which directly supports management and manufacturing personnel in making informed business decisions. The Financial Analyst will contribute to the financial health and operational efficiency of the Butler location by ensuring accuracy and providing actionable insights.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Closing: Support the monthly financial close process, specifically handling activities related to inventory and cost.
• Account Reconciliation: Reconcile various balance sheet accounts and actively investigate any variances that are identified.
• Performance Analysis: Analyze financial results to identify significant variances and assist in performing root-cause analysis to understand underlying issues.
• Planning & Budgeting: Assist in the preparation of comprehensive plant forecasts and annual budgets for the Butler location.
• Compliance & Audit: Support internal controls, ensure compliance with requirements like SOX, and assist with internal and external audit requests.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Experience: Requires knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and fundamental accounting processes, including month-end close and account reconciliations.
• Skills: Strong analytical abilities, a detail-oriented approach, and a commitment to accuracy are essential.
• Bonus: Prior experience within a manufacturing environment, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and familiarity with ERP systems are preferred.
