Managing Director, Investment Banking – Healthcare Mergers & Acquisitions | Portage Point Partners

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Portage Point Partners, with required in-office collaboration four days per week and client site travel, based in one of Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York, Palm Beach, or Philadelphia. This Managing Director role is critical for shaping strategy, influencing outcomes, and driving significant impact by further establishing and leading the firm’s M&A practice within the high-growth healthcare sector, while developing new and existing client relationships.

• Team: Investment Banking (IB) Practice; reports directly to the IB Practice Line Leader.
• Mission: To assume a wide range of responsibilities in business development and client delivery, leveraging the firm’s platform to establish and grow the Healthcare M&A practice while ensuring high-quality, impactful engagement deliverables.

What You’ll Actually Do
Transaction Execution: Lead the end-to-end execution of all deliverable workflows required to successfully consummate M&A transactions for middle market companies undergoing growth, transformation, and transition.
Business Development & Sales: Proactively sell engagements and cultivate new business across an extensive network including senior executives, private equity firms, entrepreneurs, lenders, and lawyers, specifically within the healthcare sector.
Client Advisory & Analysis: Oversee the review and analysis of client financial statements and projections, conduct comprehensive financial modeling, perform accounting and balance sheet/P&L due diligence, and create and present impactful client deliverables.
Negotiation & Documentation: Play a key role in negotiating, documenting, and assisting in the full transaction execution process, ensuring bespoke solutions for every engagement.
Team & Firm Leadership: Provide coaching and mentorship to junior team members, lead internal trainings and best practice sharing, and actively support talent acquisition and firm-building initiatives while fostering a high-performing culture.

The Must-Haves
Background: Bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate program with 15 plus years of middle market investment banking experience, demonstrating a deep specialization in the Healthcare sector.
Experience: An established book of business in the Healthcare sector with a demonstrated ability to develop new business across corporate relationships, private equity sponsors, lawyers, and/or lenders, combined with experience advising privately held and sponsor-backed businesses.
Skills: Holds Series 79, 63, and 24 FINRA licenses (or the ability to obtain them within 120 days of employment), possesses commanding knowledge of current market terms and trends, and demonstrates superior written and verbal communication, project management, and client-facing leadership capabilities.
