Associate – Leveraged Finance Execution (HCA) | Huntington National Bank

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Huntington National Bank, located in an office setting. Huntington is a bank focused on supporting the financial needs of businesses and individuals. This role is crucial in executing complex leveraged finance transactions, particularly for privately held companies, by providing essential underwriting and execution support to senior deal team members and guiding junior Analysts.

• Team: Leveraged Finance Execution team, part of the Huntington Capital Advisors (HCA) sub-team, reporting to Vice President, Associate Director, Director, and/or Managing Director.
• Mission: Provide underwriting and execution support for leveraged finance transactions pertaining to M&A, LBOs, and recapitalizations, with a focus on privately held businesses, while also training and managing Analysts.
• Tech Stack: Word, Excel

What You’ll Actually Do
• Execute: Execute leveraged finance transactions including senior secured debt, TLBs, high-yield bonds, and mezzanine, and present complex deals, companies, and related financial information under critical time constraints.
• Manage: Spearhead the due diligence process for new cash flow transactions, which involves financial due diligence and leading diligence calls, then synthesize and interpret the information for the applicable audience.
• Prepare: Prepare and/or review screening memos, internal credit approval documents, and financial models, ensuring highly detailed and accurate work on multiple, concurrent tasks.
• Organize: Organize and manage the closing process on new leveraged finance transactions, interacting with various stakeholders including senior Leveraged Finance members, portfolio managers, credit officers, and legal counsel.
• Train & Monitor: Train, manage, and monitor the work product of Analysts, ensuring quality and timeliness of both self and analyst’s work, and identifying opportunities for analysts to contribute to senior bankers.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree; professional experience in corporate finance, financial planning & analysis, or investment banking.
• Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience.
• Skills: Strong analytical skills, proficiency with financial statement modeling, superior written and verbal communication skills, and thorough knowledge of Word and Excel.
• Bonus: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, CFA or MBA, completion of a formalized credit training program, experience underwriting middle market cash flow transactions, and knowledge of leveraged finance transactions and structures.
