Financial Analyst I | Hunt Refining Company

The Tone:
This position provides essential support for the Financial Planning function at Hunt Refining Company, a leader in the refining industry. This role is crucial for identifying profit drivers, executing financial analysis, and contributing to strategic planning initiatives. The individual in this position will be responsible for maintaining, improving, and presenting the company’s financial model, delivering critical analysis directly to the executive management team. This is a full-time role that contributes significantly to the financial health and strategic direction of the company.

• Team: Reports to the Financial Planning Associate, collaborating closely with Operations, Treasury, Crude Supply, and Sales & Marketing.
• Mission: Owns the development and refinement of financial forecasts, models, and analyses to support strategic financial planning and executive decision-making.
• Tech Stack: Expert Excel modeling, Power Point

What You’ll Actually Do
• Forecast: Develop the monthly financial forecast, analyzing changes from prior versions and providing inputs for internal discussions and executive presentations.
• Coordinate: Lead the biweekly inventory meeting, coordinating with logistics and operations to ensure all projections are updated.
• Guide: Work with Finance to understand liquidity requirements, providing guidance to Senior Management on debt covenants, availability, and financing options.
• Analyze: Prepare and present the quarterly Peer Analysis report to management, informing them of competitor landscapes, industry trends, and potential opportunities.
• Budget: Consolidate the annual Budget alongside Accounting for presentation and approval by senior management.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: One to three years of experience in financial analysis, demonstrating a high degree of financial competence and ability to operate independently, including experience in analyzing financial statements and data mining.
• Skills: Expert Excel modeling and Power Point skills.
• Bonus: MBA preferred; one to three years of refining or oil & gas related experience is a plus.
