Private Equity Associate | Alexander Chapman

The Tone:
This is a full-time investing role at Alexander Chapman, a leading middle-market private equity investor located in the Midwest. The company focuses on control investments in established middle-market companies across a generalist platform. This role is crucial as it involves direct participation in the full investment lifecycle, from sourcing and evaluation to execution and monitoring, making a significant impact on the firm’s portfolio and value creation initiatives.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Originate, screen, and evaluate new investment opportunities to expand the firm’s portfolio.
• Analyze: Build and maintain detailed financial models and valuation analyses to assess potential investments.
• Conduct: Perform comprehensive due diligence across financial, commercial, and operational areas for target companies.
• Assist: Support the structuring and execution of M&A and leveraged buyout transactions.
• Partner: Collaborate with management teams on value creation initiatives and monitor portfolio company performance.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree with strong academic performance in a relevant field; a demonstrated interest in private equity and long-term investing is essential.
• Experience: 2–3 years of investment banking experience at a middle-market or boutique advisory firm; prior exposure to M&A execution is strongly preferred.
• Skills: Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills; high attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple live transactions; strong communication skills and ability to engage with senior stakeholders.
• Bonus: Experience working across multiple industries (or strong generalist coverage) is a plus; candidates from middle-market investment banks such as Jefferies, Lincoln International, Harris Williams, Piper Sandler, Stifel, William Blair, Raymond James, and similar platforms are preferred.
